Amphibians...Tadpoles eat mostly plant material.
Amphibian teeth have no roots and grow all the time as they are worn down.
Some frog deformities are thought to be caused by a parasite. This entry inspired by my good friends: Cheryl, Su, Margo, Michelle and Michelle! These people have studied a totally surprising type of frog deformity in our area just recently. Then there's Darcy....the one that made the conclusive statement, "Get a CLUE!!! it's spring!!!"
Frog Vomit? Some kinds of frogs are able to throw up their stomach and wipe it off with their legs.

Anteaters...
Bats...The smallest mammal is the Bumblebee Bat of Thailand. It's weight is less than a penny.
A single little brown bat can catch 1,200 mosquito-sized insects in just one hour.Source
Cats...Horror! When you find that your cat has delivered to your doorstep (or worse your pillow!)the carcass or guts of some poor mouse remember this...It is the cat's idea of the greatest gift or show of honor she can give you. And the guts would be considered the supreme delicacy to your cat and therefore being the greatest gift she can bestow.
Longhaired cats...Brush daily!! The skin under matted fur hurts from the few tightly pulling hairs remaining attached! Also, sores and parasites occur under those mats. If you find you need to trim off a mat be very careful or better yet take the animal to a groomer. Cat skin is very thin and delicate.
Cattle...Cows hate red! I know what you are going to say, "they are colorblind", but I used to milk cows and EVERY shift that I wore that stupid red stocking cap I got kicked multiple times and the days I did not wear it I did not get kicked. Strange, but true...
More strange cow info...Sometimes a large magnet is placed into the rumen (first stomach chamber). This magnet would collect metal bits that the cow might injest like bits of bailing wire. Without the magnet the wire could travel and with the very strong muscle action of the gut it could puncture through to a vital organ. A "wired" cow can die.
Dogs...
Elephants...can often eat more than 770 pounds of vegetation a day.
Elephants can communicate by using an infrasonic sound. These calls are pitched too low for humans to hear. Hippos, rhinos and some whales can also make these sounds.
Goats...baby goats (kids) will eat dirt to establish helpful bacterium to their digestive tract. A goat will most often reach toward the far side of a bucket to drink. The reason is a valve in the throat that will adjust when the goat reaches so that the water or milk (as in the reach to nurse) will go into the correct stomach chamber. If a young goat is not allowed to reach to drink it can develop diarrhea.
Dairy goats..."the poor man's cow".
Goats and Octopi... have rectangular pupils.
"Nanny Berry Tea"!...A slurry made from goat droppings and water can be painted onto tree trunks and can sometimes keep goats from chewing the bark off trees...from Jonathon...Bernicia Farm
Guinea Pigs...Baby Guinea Pigs are called puppies, grown males are boars and grown females are called sows.
Popcorning is the Guinea Pig term for the hoppity, wiggle, jump that a very happy "pig" will perform. Check out this Cavy Vocabulary!
A tunnel toy for your Guinea Pig can be made from an empty round oatmeal box with the bottom removed or from a large diameter (at least 4") pvc pipe.
Hedgehogs...
Horses...horses have frogs!! The v-shaped part of the hoof that is located on the bottom is called the frog. It is thought that when the hoof hits the ground this part is helpful in pumping blood back up the animal's leg.
Iguanas...
Jellyfish...special sacs located on the bell rim help jellyfish to maintain balance.Source
Llamas...Male Llamas make a sound called an "orgle" while they are breeding. I never have owned a Llama before, but I'm sure I've heard this sound before. Click here for neat Llama sounds and info!
Prairie Dogs...
Tarantulas...The longest lived tarantula in captivity lived 28 years.
Worms...Earthworms have five hearts.
It is possible for earthworms to freeze solid and still live!
